Aircraft Categories & Indicative Pricing

What each aircraft category costs to charter.

The largest cost variable in any charter is the aircraft category. A light jet and an ultra-long-range jet can differ by a factor of 6–7× in hourly rate — selecting the right category for the route is therefore the single most important cost decision.

What Makes Up the Total Cost

Every component explained.

01

Aircraft Hire

The core cost — hourly charter rate × flight hours. This is what most "from" pricing is based on. But it is never the complete picture.

Primary variable · Drives 60–80% of total trip cost

02

Positioning

If the aircraft is not based at your departure city, it must be flown there empty. This repositioning cost — typically one or more flight hours at the charter rate — is charged to the client. Selecting an aircraft already based locally eliminates this entirely.

Can add 20–50% to light jet domestics · Less significant on long international routes

03

Fuel

Some operators quote an all-in rate inclusive of fuel. Others separate it. Always clarify — fuel costs can be substantial on heavy jets and ultra-long-range aircraft, particularly on long international sectors.

May be included in charter rate or listed separately

04

Landing & Handling Fees

Airport landing fees, navigational charges, and ground handling (FBO) fees at departure and arrival. Domestic Indian airports: typically $500–1,500 combined. International FBOs: $1,000–3,500+ depending on airport and aircraft size.

$500–$3,500+ per airport pair

05

Overflight & Landing Permits

International charter requires permits from each country's aviation authority for overflight and landing. Lead times and costs vary by country. Some permits cost $200; others $1,500+ and require 48–72 hours' notice.

$500–$3,000+ for international routes · Not required for purely domestic flights

06

Crew Costs

Typically included in the charter rate for single-day trips. Multi-day trips where crew must overnight at the destination incur hotel, per-diem, and sometimes return travel costs, added to the invoice.

Included for day-trips · $500–1,500/day for overnight crew

07

Catering

Standard light refreshments may be included in some charter packages. Full catering — meals, beverages, specific requests — is typically arranged at additional cost and varies by airport and specification.

$200–$2,000+ depending on route and requirements

08

De-icing & Special Charges

Winter departures from European airports, certain mountain airports, and high-altitude operations may incur de-icing charges or performance surcharges not present in standard pricing.

Seasonal and location-specific

Frequently Asked Questions

Private jet costs answered honestly.

The most cost-efficient domestic charter in India is a light jet on a short route — such as Mumbai to Goa or Delhi to Jaipur — where the total trip cost can start from approximately $4,000–6,000 for a one-way flight. This compares to a helicopter (even shorter transfers, from $800–2,000) or a very light jet. "Cheapest" however should always be evaluated against whether the aircraft is appropriate for the route and the aircraft's safety and operator credentials.

When comparing quotes: confirm that all quotes cover the same aircraft category and year of manufacture; check whether fuel is included or listed separately; confirm what handling and permit costs are included; and verify whether the quoted price is guaranteed or an estimate. A lower headline price with significant exclusions may cost more than a higher all-in quote. Always compare on the same basis.

Yes — date flexibility provides access to positioning flights, empty legs, and aircraft already based at your departure city that reduce or eliminate positioning costs. Empty leg pricing can represent 20–50% reductions on standard charter rates. If your schedule permits even 24–48 hours of flexibility, it is worth asking Enthral whether any positioning or empty leg opportunities exist on your route.

Domestic Indian charter is typically quoted in INR. International charter — particularly where foreign-registered aircraft are involved — is usually quoted in USD. Enthral Aviation confirms the currency and payment structure in every formal quotation. Illustrative pricing on this page uses USD as the reference currency.

Cancellation terms vary by operator and are specified in the charter agreement. Most operators apply a tiered cancellation structure — a full refund beyond a defined notice period, reducing to no refund within 24–48 hours of departure. Cancellation terms are always confirmed in the formal quotation and charter agreement before any payment is made. Enthral Aviation confirms applicable cancellation terms for every booking.
